    Neocon quiz results

Based on your answers, you are most likely a neoconservative.

Read below to learn more about each foreign policy perspective.

    •  Isolationist The term isolationist is most often used negatively; few people who share its beliefs use it to describe their own foreign policy perspective. They believe in "America first." For them, national sovereignty trumps international relations. Many unions, libertarians, and anti-globalization protesters share isolationist tenets.  Isolationists… Are wary of US involvement in the United Nations Oppose international law, alliances, and agreements Believe the US should not act as a global cop Support trade practices that protect American workers Oppose liberal immigration Oppose American imperialism Desire to preserve what they see as America's national identity and character Historical isolationist: President Calvin Coolidge Modern isolationist: Author/Commentator Pat Buchanan
    • Liberal Liberals… Are wary of American arrogance and hypocrisy Trace much of today's anti-American hatred to previous US foreign policies. Believe political solutions are inherently superior to military solutions Believe the US is morally bound to intervene in humanitarian crises Oppose American imperialism Support international law, alliances, and agreements Encourage US participation in the UN Believe US economic policies must help lift up the world's poor Historical liberal: President Woodrow Wilson Modern liberal: President Jimmy Carter
    •  Realist Realists… Are guided more by practical considerations than ideological vision Believe US power is crucial to successful diplomacy - and vice versa Don't want US policy options unduly limited by world opinion or ethical considerations Believe strong alliances are important to US interests Weigh the political costs of foreign action Believe foreign intervention must be dictated by compelling national interest Historical realist: President Dwight D. Eisenhower Modern realist: Secretary of State Colin Powell
    • Neoconservative Neoconservatives… Want the US to be the world's unchallenged superpower Share unwavering support for Israel Support American unilateral action Support preemptive strikes to remove perceived threats to US security Promote the development of an American empire Equate American power with the potential for world peace Seek to democratize the Arab world Push regime change in states deemed threats to the US or its allies Historical neoconservative: President Teddy Roosevelt Modern neoconservative: President Ronald Reagan [ Back to Empire builders ]

Yeah, right. Given the limits of this quiz, the result is as good an approximation as it gets.

    Veteran's Day

Belatedly, I add my 2 cents to the recent celebration of 11/11/1918, aka Armistice Day.  I remember the grandfather who raised me: Henry W. Willis, Sr.(3/1895-10/1971), quartermaster, US Army, who served this great Nation in France during the Great War. RIP, grandpa...I will not forget. I have had the honor to march in the Veteran's Day parades in Birmingham, AL shortly after his passing from this world to the next. Self taught, for the most part, Methodist minister, brick mason, he never talked much about the War; but he did speak soldier French for us. Before his death, grandpa marched in the Armistice Day parade in Birmingham himself, with his band of brothers. RIP, grandpa, and thank you for everything you gave me. To the rest of my military family members, past, present, and to those now serving, I thank God for you. May God Bless all veterans of America's wars, and may God Bless their families.

My score is below (MSN Spaces has limits).

    William Wallace
You scored 77 Wisdom, 62 Tactics, 74 Guts, and 49 Ruthlessness!
Like William Wallace, chances are you have no problem charging a larger, better trained, better equipped, better armed and armored English army with a band of naked drunken Scotsmen. I'm not contesting that you have balls. It's your brain function I'm worried about.

Scottish soldier and national hero. The first historical record of Wallace's activities concerns the burning of Lanark by Wallace and 30 men in May, 1297, and the slaying of the English sheriff, one of those whom Edward I of England had installed in his attempt to make good his claim to overlordship of Scotland. After the burning of Lanark many joined Wallace's forces, and under his leadership a disciplined army was evolved. Wallace marched on Scone and met an English force of more than 50,000 before Stirling Castle in Sept., 1297. The English, trying to cross a narrow bridge over the Forth River, were killed as they crossed, and their army was routed. Wallace crossed the border and laid waste several counties in the North of England. In December he returned to Scotland and for a short time acted as guardian of the realm for the imprisoned king, John de Baliol . In July, 1298, Edward defeated Wallace and his army at Falkirk, and forced him to retreat northward. His prestige lost, Wallace went to France in 1299 to seek the aid of King Philip IV, and he possibly went on to Rome. He is heard of again fighting in Scotland in 1304, but there was a price on his head, and in 1305 he was captured by Sir John de Menteith. He was taken to London in Aug., 1305, declared guilty of treason, and executed. The best-known source for the life of Wallace is a long romantic poem attributed to Blind Harry, written in the 15th century.

The Austrian Economists: Does Anyone Have a Theory of Social Change?

Good question. I believe that the Austrian School of Economics to be the best of the bunch. This is the school that first developed theories of capital, money, and interest. This is the school that first showed that socialism cannot work as an economic theory. It is from this that I have concluded that socialism is a religion. I would think that you could derive one from Ludwig von Mises' theory of catalactics, public choice theory, and game theory.

Economically inclined readers are encouraged to follow the trackback.

Oh yeah, I believe that you could understand President Bush's choice of Harriet Miers for Associate Justice of the SCOTUS from the tenents of public choice theory and game theory. It is apparent to me that given the confirmation process today has constrained the range of choices available to the President. Thank you gang of 14 and the left wingnut Democrat Senators.

Two tropical systems have hit my corner of the world. Tropical storm Cindy hit near Grand Isle, LA and passed just south of me headed northeast through Atlanta. Hurricane Dennis hit near Gulf Breeze, FL and is currently passing through south Alabama over Atmore. This storm will probably pass through western Alabama not far from my home, which was impacted by Ivan last September.

Another Day That Will Live in Infamy

During rush hour 7/7/05, Islamofascists struck London with a cooordinated bombing attack. Given the leftist's romaniticized fascination with thugs, you can count on many voices to cry out for appeasement. Sorry, Charlie, these people are bent upon death and conquest. We must deny them conquest by giving them the 'martyrdom' they seek. Nevertheless, these are the end times mentioned in Revelation. Repent, while you still have time to receive the gift of life from God.

    Supreme Foolishness

The SCOTUS finished its October 2004 term with a bang yesterday. As expected, the establishment of the religion of secularism continues. The religion clauses in the First Amendment say the following: "Congress shall pass no law respecting an establishment of religion, nor prohibit the free exercise thereof." The display of a monument cotaining Christian religious references is by no means an establishment of religion.  Note the amendment does not say endorsement of religion, it says an eslablishment; that is the Federal equivalent of the tax supported, royally decreed Church of England.  What the court is establishing is the religion of secularism and with its property rights destroying rulings the establishment of the religion of socialism.

    Bolton Blocked for now

The Democrat obstruction of the nomination John Bolton to be ambassador to the UN succeeded by a vote of 54 Yea, 38 Nay, and 8 not voting. 51 R's voted yea. 3 D's voted yea. 37 D's voted nay. One Rino voted nay. 3 R's and 5 D's didn't vote. It is time to nuke the filibuster of nominations. Under the rules of the first through 108th Senate, this nomination would be confirmed.

    Turban Durbin

Well, well, well, a left wingnut in the US Senate strikes again. Read here for the orginal statement as posted on his official site. You can go here for a follow up. I know both of my Senators, woked with both of them, and have met with Senator Jeff Sessions personally. I am pleased with his response. If you would like to see the definition of treason in action, see this Senator's statements and like statements made by Fascist fellow travellers like Senator Durbin.
